Brief Introduction

The mixed-grass pellet mill—also known as a forage pelletizer—is a press specifically engineered to process diverse biomass feedstocks, including mixed wild grasses, fresh forage, and crop stalks. It compresses loose, bulky grass material into high-density cylindrical pellets in a single pass, relying on the material's natural lignin for binding rather than chemical additives. Pellet specifications can be adjusted by changing the die (ranging from 2 mm to 12 mm). This equipment effectively addresses the challenges associated with loose grass—such as high storage volume, susceptibility to mold, and high transportation costs—thereby enabling the resource utilization of wild grasses. It serves as a core piece of press for both livestock feed processing and biomass fuel production.

Working Principle

The mixed green forage pellet mill feeds pre-crushed raw material into the pelletizing chamber, where the rotating pressure rollers force the forage into the holes of a ring or flat die. The friction generated during this process creates high temperatures of approximately 80°C, softening and plasticizing the lignin within the forage fibers and allowing the material to bind and form pellets through its own fibrous properties. As the material is continuously extruded through the die holes, a cutter slices it to a preset length, producing uniform pellets that harden and set upon cooling; the finished pellets are highly durable and resistant to crumbling. The entire process relies on physical extrusion and requires no chemical additives, making it simple and reliable.
