Brief Introduction

TONY Galvanized Pellets Cooler is the core equipment at the end of the granulation process in the biomass pellet production line. The hot pellets (70-90℃) produced by the pellet machine enter the cooling machine and are cooled and dehydrated by the principle of counter-flow heat exchange where the material flows downward and the cold air flows upward;

The silo body is made of fully galvanized corrosion-resistant material, resistant to the corrosion of wood moisture and organic acids. It can reduce the pellet temperature by 3-5℃ compared to the ambient temperature, while removing excess moisture, reducing pellet cracking and powdering, increasing pellet hardness, and facilitating storage, packaging and transportation.

Core advantages: No sudden cooling, gradual gradient cooling, reducing pellet cracks, higher yield rate.

Working Principle

he hot and wet pellets produced by the pellet machine are sent into the cooling chamber by the closed air feeder, and then evenly spread throughout the chamber by the bulk discharger.

Cold air passes upward through the granule layer from the bottom of the equipment. The granules slowly fall from top to bottom, and the materials move in the opposite direction to the airflow. The cold air at the bottom first comes into contact with the already cooled low-temperature granules, gradually warming up before coming into contact with the upper high-temperature granules. This gradient heat exchange prevents the granules from suddenly cooling and cracking.

The hot air absorbs heat and moisture and is then discharged by the top exhaust fan. The level indicator monitors the height of the material layer, and automatically starts the bottom slide valve to discharge when the level reaches the set height; when the level drops to a lower position, the discharge stops. The granules remain in the chamber for 6–10 minutes to complete cooling and precipitation. The cooled granules are then discharged from the bottom and enter the screening or packaging process.

Main Part

1.Galvanized octagonal cooling bin

Octagonal bin design reduces accumulation of materials in dead corners; the entire bin is treated with hot-dip galvanizing, resistant to moisture and organic acid corrosion from wood chips; an observation door is reserved on the bin wall for easy inspection of the material layer status and maintenance.

2.Air-lock

Top feeding, uniform distribution, blocks air cross-flow, ensures stable negative pressure inside the bin, prevents hot air from escaping. Equipped with a rhombic cone-shaped bulk material distributor, the material covers the entire cross-section of the bin, and the distribution is uniform.

3.Sliding valve reciprocating discharge mechanism

Bottom sliding valve discharge, driven by a reducer motor to reciprocate motion, discharges materials uniformly and gently, reducing particle fragmentation; combined with high and low level switches, it automatically controls feeding and discharging.

4.Ventilation and dust removal system

Bottom intake of cold air, hot air is extracted from the top exhaust fan, removing heat and water vapor; the outlet is connected to the dust collection pipe, dust is uniformly collected, meeting environmental protection standards.

5.Frame base

Floor-mounted installation, no need for a pit, convenient for connection to ton bag conveyors and packaging machines.

Model Selection Key Points

1.Select the volume based on production capacity: Select the model according to the hourly output to ensure that the particles stay in the storage bin for 6-10 minutes, with sufficient cooling and precipitation.

2.Material storage container material: For humid / outdoor conditions, use an integral hot-dip galvanized storage container to resist the corrosion of wood chips and organic acids; for dry workshops, ordinary carbon steel can be used.

3.Material compatibility: For biomass pellets, select a sliding valve discharge structure to ensure gentle discharge and reduce particle fragmentation and powdering.

4.Fan dust removal: Match the fan air volume to the model; insufficient air volume leads to poor cooling, and excessive air volume can suck away the particles; reserve a dust removal interface, and an explosion-proof configuration can be selected in dusty conditions.

5.Automation configuration: Standard configuration includes high and low material level automatic control; the fully automatic production line can be linked to the signals of the preceding and following equipment.

6.Installation connection: Install directly without a pit; check the on-site space and the height of material intake and discharge, and select the storage bin, vibrating screen, and packaging machine that are compatible.

7.Finished product indicators: The discharge temperature should be controlled at the ambient temperature + 3-5℃. Do not blindly increase the storage capacity to increase production.

In Biomass Pellet Production Line

Galvanized Pellets Cooler

Wood is the most common raw material for wood pellet production.

So, how do you design a suitable wood pellet production line using wood as the raw material?

First, a drum wood chipper is used to shred the wood into 2.5-3.5 cm chips.

Then, a hammer mill/wood crusher is used to grind the chips into sawdust (6-12 mm).

Sometimes, a dryer is also required, as wood typically has a moisture content of approximately 30-50%. In this case, a dryer is necessary.

Then, a vertical ring die wood pellet machine is used to press the dried wood chips into high-quality wood pellets.

Newly pressed pellets are relatively hot and soft. They pass through a cooler to cool and shape them.

Once cooled, the pellets are transported to a packaging facility, packaged, and stored in a dry location. Finished wood pellets are typically packaged in ton bags or small bags to meet varying customer needs.
