Brief Introduction

The ryegrass pellet mill is a piece of equipment specifically designed to process the fibrous characteristics of forage crops like ryegrass into pellets. It compresses pulverized ryegrass raw material into cylindrical pellets without the need for chemical binders, relying instead on the forage's natural lignin content for bonding. The equipment range spans from small-scale home units and medium-sized farm models to complete production lines for large forage processing plants. It offers adjustable pellet sizes (4–12mm) and produces high-density, structurally stable pellets. Serving as core equipment for the value-added processing of forage resources, it is also commonly referred to as a ryegrass pelletizer or ryegrass feed pellet press.

Working Principle

After undergoing grinding and moisture conditioning, the ryegrass raw material is fed into the pelletizing chamber. A drive mechanism rotates the die plate, causing the pressure rollers to spin; the material is drawn into the gap between the rollers and the die, where heat is generated through compression and friction. This heat softens the internal lignin and gelatinizes the proteins in the ryegrass, creating a natural binding effect. Under continuous high-pressure extrusion, the material is forced through the die holes, and a cutter slices the extrudate into pellets of a set length. The formed pellets are discharged and subsequently cooled and screened to yield the final ryegrass product. The entire process relies on mechanical compression and frictional heat generation, enabling pellet formation without the addition of binders.
