Chicory Pellet Press

Brief Introduction

The chicory pellet press is specialized equipment designed for processing forage feed. It comes in two main series—flat-die and ring-die models—and is optimized for the specific material characteristics of chicory, such as its high crude fiber content and high moisture levels in its fresh state. The press compresses pulverized chicory raw material into cylindrical feed pellets. Suitable for use by individual livestock owners, small-to-medium-sized farms, forage processing plants, and chicory feed production lines, it can produce pellets ranging from 2 mm to 10 mm in diameter simply by changing the die. The resulting pellets feature a high formation rate and uniform texture, making this press the core equipment for processing chicory forage feed.

Working Principle

The chicory pellet mill operates on the principle of mechanical extrusion molding. Pre-processed, ground chicory material is fed into the pelletizing chamber, where a motor-driven main shaft rotates the rollers; driven by friction, the rollers spin on their own axes while continuously compressing the chicory material, forcing it into the holes of the ring die. Inside the die holes, the material heats up due to pressure and friction, causing the fibers to soften and gelatinize as they take shape; as the material is continuously extruded from the holes, an internal cutter severs the strands to a preset length, forming the finished chicory pellets. These pellets are discharged through the outlet and can be further processed using auxiliary cooling and screening equipment.

Suitable Raw Materials

1. Core raw materials: Fresh chicory, dried chicory hay, chicory leaf meal, chicory root powder, and chicory pulp;

2. Optional ingredients: Alfalfa, corn flour, soybean meal, wheat bran, straw powder, rice husk powder, etc.;

3. Material requirements: Raw materials must be pulverized first; a moisture content of 10%–15% yields the best pelletizing results; feed additives and trace elements may be added as needed during the granulation process.
