Brief Introduction

TONY wrapping machine—formally known as a pallet stretch wrapper—is an automated piece of equipment used downstream of the palletizing process. It employs LLDPE stretch film to spirally wrap entire pallet loads, thereby stabilizing the load and providing protection against dust, moisture, and load collapse. Frequently paired with column-type palletizers, these machines are widely used for preparing bagged goods—such as biomass pellets, organic fertilizers, animal feed, and grain—for export via shipping containers. The two mainstream types are the semi-automatic turntable model and the fully automatic rotary-arm model; among pellet production facilities, the turntable model with pre-stretch capability is the most commonly used.

Working Principle

The fully palletized load is placed in the center of the turntable, and the machine is started.

The turntable rotates the palletized load while the film carriage moves up and down along the mast.

A pre-stretch mechanism stretches the stretch film, which is then wrapped around the load in a spiral pattern from bottom to top;

Upon reaching the top of the load, the machine can be set to apply multiple reinforcing wraps; the carriage then descends to reinforce the base.

Once wrapping is complete, the film is automatically clamped and cut. The film tightens to securely wrap the load, preventing load shifting, moisture ingress, and dust accumulation during transport.

For semi-automatic models, the film tail is attached manually;

Fully automatic models can interface with palletizers for automatic pallet conveying, requiring no manual intervention throughout the process.

1.Turntable Base: Thickened carbon steel turntable with variable frequency drive; supports palletized loads; features soft-start and soft-stop functions to prevent load tipping.

2.Mast and Film Carriage: The carriage moves vertically along the mast and houses the pre-stretch mechanism (a core component that pre-stretches the film via roller speed differentials—up to 250%–300%—to save on film usage).

3.Tension Adjustment Mechanism: Controls film tightness; allows for adjustable, gentle tension for bagged granular loads to prevent crushing the packaging.

4.PLC Touchscreen Control System: Allows configuration of bottom/top reinforcement wraps, carriage lifting speed, and turntable rotation speed; utilizes photoelectric sensors to automatically detect load height.

5.Film Clamping and Cutting Device: Semi-automatic models require manual film clamping; fully automatic models feature automatic film clamping and cutting.

6.Safety Features: Emergency stop button and safety warnings; optional safety fencing available.

7.Conveyor System (for in-line fully automatic models): Interfaces with production lines for automatic pallet loading and unloading, enabling unmanned operation.
